c-MET Amplification LPS004
The c-MET or Hepatocyte Growth Factor Receptor gene encodes for a proto-oncogene. The c-MET gene regulates both cell motility and cell growth so normal expression allows stem cells and progenitor cells to grow invasively. The gene has been shown to be overexpressed in many tumours: ovarian, breast, lung, thyroid, stomach, pancreatic and colon cancer and this overexpression correlates with a poor prognosis.
