HER2 Amplification LPS001
The HER2 human epidermal growth factor receptor gene (ERBB2 or NEU) is activated and amplified in 20-30% of breast cancer and it has been correlated with a poor prognosis for the patient. Monoclonal antibody treatment of amplification patients using Herceptin (Trastuzumab) is effective, increasing the survival time by specifically targeting cells that over-express the HER2 protein and cleaning them from the system.
