Technical Tip:

How to avoid moisture in the Chromoprobe Multiprobe Hybridisation chamber

One of our customers noted to us recently that they sometimes seemed to get a lot of moisture in the Chromoprobe Multiprobe Hybridisation Chamber when they used two or more chambers in the water bath. They were very concerned about this because they knew that the levels of humidity during hybridisation were critical to getting good results with the Multiprobe range of products. They eventually worked out that when two hybridisation chambers float next to each other, water sometimes creeps up the side of the box by capillary action and can enter the box.

They solved the problem by separating the two boxes. Our tip is to wrap an elastic band around the outside of the chamber as shown in the picture. This acts as a buffer and separates the two chambers during hybridisation.
